?We are also near Princes Street, a modern day shopping hub which was built as part of the New Town - in the latter half of the 18th century. In true Georgian style, towering over the the modern shops is 200 feet of the Sir Walter Scott Monument, circa 1846. Visitors looking for a tremendous view of the Edinburgh skyline are invited to tackle the 287 steps for the pleasure. ?
